What size cleaning brush do I need? Match the brush head to the bore you are clearing. This range runs from a 10mm stainless steel brush on a 14cm shaft up to a 30mm large brush and a 510mm by 40mm bottle brush for wide tubes.
What is the difference between a pipe cleaner and a cleaning brush? A pipe cleaner is a thin flexible wire with a soft covering that feeds through a narrow stem. A cleaning brush has a stiffer bristle head on a longer shaft, made for bowls, tubes and chambers.
Will a bottle brush reach the bottom of a tall waterpipe? The Vikan bottle brush in this range is 510mm long with a 40mm head, so it reaches down tubes that a short pipe brush cannot. Measure from the mouthpiece to the base before choosing a length.
How often should a cleaning brush be replaced? Swap a brush out once the bristles splay or the wire core starts to show, because an exposed core can scratch glass. Pipe cleaners are sold in packs and are meant to be used once and discarded.
