Venty vs Mighty+ vs Crafty+: Which Storz & Bickel Suits You

Short answer: choose the CRAFTY+ if you want the smallest and lightest Storz & Bickel and mostly use it on your own. Choose the MIGHTY+ if you want the best-known all-rounder with two batteries and easy one-handed handling. Choose the VENTY if you want the fastest heat-up in the range — 20 seconds — plus adjustable airflow. All three are made in Germany and all three are stocked here in New Zealand.

Those three portables cover almost the entire Storz & Bickel handheld line-up, and they are far more similar than the price gaps suggest. They share the same temperature range, the same filling chamber size and the same patented convection-plus-conduction heating. What separates them is speed, airflow, size and how you control the device. This guide sets out the manufacturer's own published figures side by side so you can decide which of those four things you actually care about.

Every figure below is taken from Storz & Bickel's own product pages (storz-bickel.com), read on 26 August 2026. Where the manufacturer publishes only imperial measurements we have converted to metric and marked the conversion with ≈.

What the numbers actually mean in use

Heat-up time is the single biggest real-world difference

One minute versus twenty seconds sounds trivial written down. In practice it decides whether the device fits a short break or not. The MIGHTY+ and CRAFTY+ both take roughly a minute to reach 180 °C; the VENTY gets there in twenty seconds. If you use a device several times a day in short bursts, that gap compounds. If you sit down for one long session in the evening, it is almost irrelevant.

Airflow is the VENTY's other headline change

The MIGHTY+ is rated at 10 litres of air per minute. The VENTY is rated at up to 20 litres per minute and is the only one of the three with an adjustable airflow control — Storz & Bickel describe a flowmeter that measures the negative pressure of your draw and adjusts the heater to match it. A wider, adjustable airway changes how the draw feels more than any temperature setting does. Storz & Bickel do not publish an airflow figure for the CRAFTY+, so we have left that cell blank rather than guess.

Size is not the same thing as pocketability

The CRAFTY+ is the shortest and lightest at 135 g and 11 cm tall — genuinely small. The VENTY is the tallest at roughly 15.7 cm but also the narrowest at about 4.7 cm, so it is pen-shaped rather than brick-shaped. The MIGHTY+ is the widest of the three at about 8.1 cm across; it is the easiest of the three to hold and operate one-handed, and the hardest to slip into a jeans pocket.

How you set the temperature differs

The CRAFTY+ has no screen. It runs a single button, and precise temperature setting happens through Bluetooth and the S&B Web App on your phone. The MIGHTY+ has an on-device display and buttons, so you never need a phone. The VENTY has both an LC display and Web App support. If you dislike relying on an app, the MIGHTY+ is the obvious pick; if you would rather not carry a bigger device to get a screen, the VENTY is.

Which one suits whom — our recommendation

Buy the CRAFTY+ if you value size above everything

It is the smallest and lightest of the three by a clear margin, it shares the same chamber size and the same temperature range as its dearer siblings, and it is the least expensive way into the Storz & Bickel range. The trade-offs are real and you should go in knowing them: no screen, a single battery rather than two, and app dependence for fine temperature control. Buy the MIGHTY+ if you want the safe all-rounder

This is the model we would recommend to most first-time buyers in the range. Two batteries, an on-device display, Supercharger support and the most forgiving shape to hold. It gives up the VENTY's 20-second heat-up and adjustable airflow, and it is the bulkiest to carry. Buy the VENTY if speed and airflow matter more than money

The VENTY is the only one of the three that changes the experience rather than refining it: 20-second heat-up, up to 20 L/min, adjustable airflow, and a proper display. It is also the dearest of the three and the tallest. If you already own a portable and know that slow heat-up and a restricted draw are the things that annoy you, this is the upgrade that fixes both. What we would not recommend

Do not buy the VENTY purely because it is the newest. Do not buy the CRAFTY+ if you know you will resent charging it more often or setting temperature through a phone. And if you are only ever going to use a device at home, none of these three is necessarily the right answer — a desktop unit from the desktop vaporizer range is a different proposition worth reading about first.

Running costs and spares

All three are designed to be maintained rather than replaced, and the wear parts are stocked separately in New Zealand. Cooling units and mouthpieces are the parts that need replacing most often: there are VENTY cooling unit sets and Crafty+ cooling unit mouthpieces, plus a MIGHTY+ wear and tear set containing the seals and screens. The USB-C Supercharger is the accessory that unlocks the ~80% in 40 minutes figure on both the MIGHTY+ and the VENTY; without a charger capable of supplying enough current, you will not see that number.

FAQ

Is the VENTY worth the extra over the MIGHTY+?

Only if the 20-second heat-up and the adjustable 20 L/min airflow are things you will use. Vapour quality, temperature range and chamber size are effectively the same across both. If you are upgrading from an older portable specifically because it is slow and restrictive, yes. If you are buying your first S&B, probably not.

Do I need a phone to use the CRAFTY+?

You can run it without one — the single button starts a session at the set base temperature. You need Bluetooth and the S&B Web App to change temperatures precisely and to customise the Booster and Superbooster settings.

Can I use the same accessories across all three?

No. The cooling units, mouthpieces and wear parts are model-specific. The MIGHTY+ and VENTY share the USB-C Supercharger; almost nothing else crosses over. Check the model name on the part before ordering.

Which has the longest battery life?

Storz & Bickel publish battery counts rather than runtime figures. The MIGHTY+ and VENTY each carry two lithium-ion cells; the CRAFTY+ carries one. On that basis the two larger devices will run longer per charge, but we have not seen a published minutes-per-charge figure from the manufacturer and will not invent one.

Are these devices legal to buy in New Zealand?

Dry herb vaporizers are legal to purchase and own in New Zealand. What you put in one is a separate question governed by New Zealand law, and nothing in this guide should be read as advice on that.
