What does the fourth piece actually do?

The fourth piece is a collection chamber sitting beneath a fine mesh screen. Ground herb stays in the middle chamber while the finest pollen falls through the screen and gathers below, so nothing is wasted. A three-piece grinder keeps everything in one chamber.

Why does the silicone grip matter?

Bare aluminium gets slippery once there is any resistance in the grind. The silicone band gives your fingers something to bite on, so you can turn the lid without straining — useful on a wider 55mm body.
