When to replace it
Top caps are the highest-wear part on a portable device. The two signs it needs changing are a cap that no longer clicks or seats firmly, and one that has picked up enough residue in the airpath that cleaning no longer restores the draw. Neither is a fault — it is a consumable doing its job.
Note on versions
Confirm you need V3 rather than an earlier cap before ordering. Vivant have revised this part across the Alternate's production run, and the revisions are not always cross-compatible.
